Cats rub themselves on things as either/both a sign of affection but also to mark their territory/leave their smells on things that "belong" to them, which is why you'll see house cats doing that behavior a lot. Dunno what the headbutt is for but probably serves a similar purpose.

hey, at least your cat doesn't follow u around the house constantly meowing and yeowling its head off for hours on end when you get home. sometimes he vocalizes so much he gets hoarse. the only peace i can get sometimes is when i put him outside the house or lock my bedroom door. then i put my headphones on and turn them up to listen to music on my phone to drown him out. otherwise, the lil dork will bug me for incessant pets. hop into my lap every time i'm sitting down. when i walk past where he's sitting on the floor and i ignore him, he will actually reach out with his paw and claws my ankle or pants leg demanding i stop and pay him homage. kibble doesn't work for long. petting works for a while but eventually i get tired of it. i'm just lucky he lives outside so happily while i'm at work.
